earlier counterparts
.

I find this pretty amusing. It sounds like he can't believe what he is seeing.

From what other forecasters are saying, I'm expecting somewhere between 8-10 in the Raleigh area.

Here are the storm tracks. I color coordinated it for you. Source:

There's 2 snow events.

1st wave: In Red: 7pm tonight the low will form off the Carolinas and head up the coast.
2nd wave: In Blue: Storm forming in Gulf today and will head up the coast.

Now imaging what a 100 mile change in track does. Isn't that crazy to think? I feel bad for forecasters.

If that 2nd storm blue track goes west 150 miles, NYC gets snow. Right now non is forecasted. Storm too far off shore.

NAM and GFS are really ramping up the totals. Now hearing 13" for Raleigh and a big accumulation in Richmond.

Muslim, can you or someone else explain why the heck it's going to be in the low single digits east of Raleigh? Everywhere else thats getting all of this snow will be the teens or even the low 20's. For instance, Greenville, SC will be hitting a low of 12 degrees over the weekend for its lowest low. Yet, a coastal, lower lying area like Greenville, NC will be hitting single digits?!

All of these temperatures are from Accuweather.

I think the Raleigh area might have some problems with temperatures though. There may be some rain or sleet early in the event, from what I've heard.

Winds or Snowpack. A snowpack is like being in a freezer. Deeper it is, the colder the air surrounding it is. Let me see if I can pull up a memory map.. hang on

AccuWeather is going for rock bottom temps. Local forecaster being modest. Reason is simple, snowpack. I doubt it will get that cold but the possibility is there.

AND............The latest Euro model shifted west as well. Gotta love last minute changes. lol

Last nights Euro for Southeast CT on left (0 precip), recent on right (0.22" liquid). Noteable on the shift right here.

BUT....

BUT.........

Check out Danbury Top left. NADA. I get screwed but the Banana belt gets snow

Wow Nantucket! 0.72" qpf all snow! WOW. 5-7" snowfall there.

Euro12z map.. Dotted dark blue line is the rain snow line so you can see how the snow shield extends back enough to give snows to the coast. Light Green = flurries though.

The storm over the ocean is not even consolidated. See it? Its elongated. Sometimes this helps extend the precip shield back more vs having a compact storm.

Here's the snow totals from it.

5-8" for the MA capes. NYC manages to get a little from it.

More realistic for NC? Only a local area of 10"+. Small swath of 4-8" Raleigh included
