Which places around the world do you really wish had Official Weather Stations for reporting and keeping stats?

I'd love to see one in Times Square, that's my number one wish right now. I bet the UHI at that station would be monstrous, even moreso than LaGuardia or Newark

Ciudad Vieja in Montevideo, it's a densely populated peninsula sticking out in the middle of the sea, I wonder how different it would be from the current Montevideo station. Even the vegetation in Ciudad Vieja looks much more tropical than the rest of the city

Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is like a gateway between the mountain (sierra) and the jungle (selva) regions of Peru, it would be so fascinating to see the climate in a place like that. You'd have like a tropical highland climate, but with lots of rainforest elements like thunderstorms and monsoons

Locally I'd like to see stats for Midtown (Bryant Park?) in Manhattan, Breezy Point in Queens, and Orient in eastern Long Island.

Globally, I'll have to come back to this one later.

Portsmouth UK. They closed the only official Met Office station in Southsea in 2006, now they have closed the nearest official station Solent MRSC, which was already cooler than Portsmouth & now the only official stations are Hayling Island (which is a manual station & stats are not available, plus it is a largely rural Island) & Thorney Island (which is an even more rural Island in West Sussex & much colder than Portsmouth)

I have just noticed too that it seems the Met Office has closed down the weather station at Southampton Airport (Eastleigh), so two of the biggest cities on the south coast have no official weather stations now
There is a station called Southampton Weather Centre, but this is an amateur one linked to the NOAA...

A little settlement called Hope, which is about 90km from here. Often seems to be hoar frost or ice on the river there, It does often feel very hot there, and a nearby(30km) location is the only area around here to exceed a 25C average monthly maximum. I've only seen car thermometer readings for there, which are not much use.

HELL.

Because if the current weather-conditions were reported from there, maybe perhaps modern-day mankind MIGHT suddenly find some motivation to 'behave itself' a little more ?

I dunno....it was just a thought I had...

:: innocent shrug ::

Have you contacted them to voice your complaints?
Anyway, I'd like weather stations at the summit of major mountains like Mt. Everest, K2, Anconcagua, Denali, Mt. Elbrus, etc. Also more weather stations in the Sahara and Antarctica. Locally the weather station coverage is pretty good I think, but I don't know if there are accurate stations in downtown Raleigh or Oklahoma City.
