Northeast braces for blizzard; lake-effect snow piles up here | WGN-TV

ORD was seeing heavy lake effect snow a couple of hours ago

With a north-northeast flow over the length of Lake Michigan gradually shifting to north-northwest later today and tonight into Wednesday the Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office has continued the Lake-effect Snow Warning (dark-green-shaded area on the highlighted map) forecasting a total of 5 to 10-inches of snow until 4PM CDT this Tuesday afternoon for Lake, Cook and DuPage Counties, Illinois while a Lake-effect Snow Advisory calls for a 3 to 6-inch total in Will County until 4PM CDT. Waukegan reports 8.5-inches of lake-effect snow has accumulated as of 3AM CDT this Tuesday morning.
Following the gradual turn of winds to north-northwest, the snow bands are expected to slowly shift into northwest Indiana later this morning and continue overnight into Wednesday. Thus a Lake-effect Snow Warning for at least 4 to 8-inches of snow is in effect until 1AM Wednesday for Lake County, Indiana with Porter and LaPorte Counties, Indiana under the Lake-effect Snow Warning for at least 4 to 8-inches from 9PM this Tuesday evening until 9AM CDT Wednesday

We had our first record high of 2017 yesterday. Got up to 92°F/33.3°C, which was 14°F/7.7°C above the normal high of 78°F/25.6°C.

Today will be a near record high. Forecast is 93°F/33.9°C, and standing record is 95°F/35°C set in 2013 (norm 78°F/25.6°C).

A strong squall line associated with the blizzard moving up the east coast roared through here last night with Thunder, Heavy Rain, Gale force Gusts, and a tornado. Cooler air should start filtering in now, and the next few days will be around 10F cooler than normal for Mid-March, 55F tonight, High of 68F tomorrow, 51F tomorrow night, and a high of 69F on Thursday. Should be very pleasant.

Very nice! Always nice to get one last gasp of cool air before the warm season settles in down there.

You know I would spread the love if I could lol. I always enjoy record cold and snow in Florida (minus the agricultural impacts).
