The earliest record of snow at the Duluth airport was on August 31, 1949, when a trace was reported. The earliest snow accumulation I'm aware of was on September 18, 1991.
Snow in May is not uncommon; it was snowing outside during my senior year (B.A.) finals in 2010. I recall May 30th or May 31st as the latest day with snow in Duluth; although I'm pretty sure it's snowed in June before too (now that IS rare!)
No real surprise that it has never snowed in Perth in recorded history. The Perth Hills at 300-400m asl, has recorded three instances of snowfall though never a ground accumulation. Probably the closest it's ever got to snowing at sea level was on June 26 1956 with rain and a temperature of 4.7C / 40F in the city at noon, a number of inland towns received up to two inches of snow on this day.
I know we had an inch of snow on 2nd June 1975, and it was highly publicized, however I'm not sure what was the latest date any has ever fallen and not settled. Don't know about the earliest, but probably early October one year.
