And yea, I voted!
You mentioned a helmet and I assumed you accessed the closed road by bicycle. Or did you park and walk?

Reading this forum it seems Edmonton currently has the nicest spring weather in the hemisphere although there's likely a bit of selection bias at play.

Here's a sunset panorama from last night that shows how rapidly the leafing-out has progressed followed by a couple of "blue hour" landscapes.

Click the panorama image for full size.

Tampere in south-western-ish Finland is still very non-green.

Same day 2016 and 2015 respectively

2014 they started getting green around the 26th of April

2013 was a late one, but even they started to get green by the 10th

Awesome spring.

You guys leaf out at breakneck speed, wasn't it bare and snowy with no blooming at all just a week or so ago?

Yeah the pace at which things are greening up this year in Edmonton is flabbergasting.

Yup, park and walk. I also mentioned a life buoy for my defence.

That was two weeks ago: last major snowfall was April 23rd and it took about 5 days to melt.

We've benefited from a major shift in conditions. Average maximum last 14 days: 17.3°C; average maximum for preceding 14 days: 4.5°C. Spring started April 28th at 8 am sharp.

Normally we go from nothing green to everything radiantly green in about 2 days. Helped of course by the monoculture of birch in our city.

Looking out the school windows.
About 4-5cm of snow in 20 minutes. 5th day in a row with snow, and it's snowing pretty heavily right now.
