I've only seen that once in my entire life, during Feb 2015. Ponds/lakes/creeks/etc. generally don't freeze over during cold spells, although sheets of ice do form.

Here's something else you don't see...

Waking up to Day # 4 in a row with snow on ground. (Since 3/10)

I don't remember when a couple inches of snow took this long to melt here IN MARCH!

Nothing (literally) for half of December and all of January and February. Now in the middle of March it snows

There's a long time left until I'll be able to post pictures of things budding and what not, so bare with me and all these (to you) winter pictures.

There's a lot of puddles now

Spring paints its own graffiti on the walls!

I think I might've brought the wrong shoes today...

"Blizzard" ended up being a bust, about 7 inches (17.8cm) fell; 12-18 inches were expected to fall (31-45cm). A winter storm warning was barely necessary for this. On YouTube videos of it I see Canadians and Northern Europeans laughing at us in the comments

So......... Friday the 10th 4" snow never completely melted.. Today makes 6 days in a row with snow on ground and its deeper because of the 10" of snow from the Blizzard yesterday.. So weird to have this ongoing white landscape.

Morning drive to work. March 15, 2017

Even the ponds are refreezing again. Weird to see!

Trying to make a left and I cant see too well on the right. Can't believe we have these piles everywhere now.

I guess no tilling and gardening this month.

Last year mid March this is what I was doing.

Spoiler

How about some actual spring-like pics? Unfortunately my phone died as I was about to take a picture of a banana plant, and at the same time a man walked past walking a pet ferret on a leash! Horse chestnut trees were also starting to leaf.

Taken this afternoon. Sunny skies and a temperature of 18c.

Witch hazel. You can also make out the buds on the cherry tree behind.

Willows coming into leaf.

Ground plants such as hogweed, parsley and dock, with leafing willows and apple trees.

I think this is some kind of poplar?

Apple tree

Willows

Yucca

Magnolia blossom

Trachy, cordyline, magnolia.

Magnolia

Poplar?

London doesn't look any further ahead than here. I thought you'd be a bit greener than that tbh.

I'll get some pics tomorrow for comparison.
