Awesome, thanks! I didn't see this post earlier. So it appears that Fort Yukon is almost certainly the record holder for Alaska, BUT in 1917 they were using a mercury thermometer to record maximum temperatures, so they actually only recorded 5 of 31 days in December of that year on account of the other 26 having daily highs below the freezing point of mercury (which is 4 more than Dawson City had)!

So given the lack of data, Eagle, Alaska, holds the official record, but in reality, Fort Yukon was colder.

I think you mean 1977. February 1979 was cold, January not so much.

For Vancouver I believe it's January 1950

High: -2.9°C
Low: -9.7°C
Avg: -6.3°C

Who knows when we will see that kind of cold month again....

Thanks. As you can see January 1977 was plenty cold too. How was February 1979? That was a frigid month in the NYC area.
