Here, in Aurora, ME, 72℉/22℃, Dew Point 53℉/11.67℃..Winds West 10MPH...
Clear and Beautiful......
Slumber beckons from a cool bedroom, where my beloved rests in repose, after a long day's work, led him to slumber....
The evening's glow is set upon the lush Meadows set before me (glimpsed through a framed, black-out set of drapes), as the setting sun casts it's farewell over all, in a fond embrace....
A momentary refreshment, touches my lips and words of gratitude, sigh...
Oh, to live and breath in such times as this...
To love...to hope..and be...
Who am I to be honored to comprehend!
Of course, the thunderstorm earlier completely missed the airport.
My total rainfall for the month of June is now 3.12". 8 days of precip out of 13 days.
The airport has only recorded 1.11" for the month so far. I live a few miles southeast of the airport, so I wonder if that puts me in a slightly better spot for summer seabreeze storms... There have been other summer months in recent years where I get a good bit more precip than what the airport gets.

Reason: should be 8 precip days instead of 7

My house is located well west of the airport I use for my observations, we tend to do a lot better with storms coming out of the Gulf and they do better with the storms coming from the Atlantic. The storms coming from the Gulf have more juice and potency behind them though.
High of 85F (29.5C) here today. Most of the day was partly cloudy and breezy with little of interest but some nice storms have fired up over the atlantic in the last hour or so. Amazing amount of lightning.

I live fairly close to the airport, so it's usually a good representation. Today I was driving in the city and it was pouring, but when I got back to my house it had only rained a little bit. Sure enough, LEX only reported 0.01".
After a second round of storms slid by, it's now up to a whopping 0.03". Lol.
That is very extreme, the difference between Long Island and New Jersey during some March/April warm spells is about half of that. You'll see 50's vs 70's or 60's vs 80's not 60's vs 100's.
Yeah the lake in the spring and early summer before its surface waters warm can really impact communities near it including the entire city and nearby suburbs.
More than just land use at play here. Measurements at Central Park are tainted by excess vegetation around the ASOS, these gradients can be very pronounced after wet periods, but 101 vs 92 is probably the most extreme temp gradient I've ever seen between the two.
It seems though that LGA is the outlier when compared to other stations in NYC. Correct? At least in minimum temp..
Most impacted by the UHI?
