84 with a 68 dew--very muggy out. A brief shower with a few rumbles of thunder came through but didn't contain much rain. The airport only registered a trace.
The dew point reached 70 earlier--the first 70+ dew in a long time (don't feel like taking the time to find out excactly when the last one was--probably a few weeks ago).
The low temperature in Athens, GA this morning was 60°F, which was not a record low, but very pleasant nonetheless. The record low for August 1 is 56°F, set in 1997. The record high for August 1 is 102°F in 1921, but this is not a summer for record heat anywhere in the South.
Overall, the average temperature in July was near normal (+0.3°F). There were 27 days of 90°F temperatures in July, and five days of 95°F temperatures, all of them consecutively from July 19-23. The maximum was 98°F on July 21. The minimum was 61°F on July 31. Despite a fast start, precipitation was below normal in July (-1.39"). Wet periods from July 1-4 (2.14") and July 23-28 (0.78") were offset by an extended dry period from July 5-22 (0.16").
The current temperature is 87°F under clear skies. The wind is light and variable, and the dewpoint is 59°F. This is a perfect summer day to me, so I'm about to go outside.
No, no I was only saying for July haha. I know we hit it once in June. Looking like we might not make it past 1 for the summer, which is fine with me lol.
Also, pet peeve of mine there is an h on the end of Pittsburgh

Oh yeah, for July, sorry.
Sorry for forgetting the "h". I mention Pittsburgh a lot not sure why I left it off. Brain freeze.

You need the Northern Jet and Sub Tropical Jet to meet to create the big blizzards/snowstorms. If they stay separate, no big snowstorms but does not mean it cant be snowy. And because this is an average it doesn't mean it cant happen either.
Looking at this again.. funny how we were talking about that before they showed that. Kinda almost makes sense because patterns come back and August seems like good timing where it comes, disappears for Fall 3-4 months later, then comes back for winter 4-5 months later?
For here...
Out of 37 Years where August was below normal.
Winter ended up below normal 24 times.
Snowfall ended up above normal 23 times.
60-61%.
Last time below normal for August was 2014 (-0.7)
