The rules are simple. Calculate the difference in the temperature between the record high and the record low of the location where you currently live. Whoever produces the highest number wins a a smiley face

No doubt a continental climate will immediately beat this, but I'll get the ball rolling:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester#Climate

Record High: 35.2°C (95.36°F)
Record Low: -18.2°C (-0.76°F)

Maximum temperature range = 53.4°C (96.12°F)

(Note: The overall °F maximum temperature range result was produced via a separate calculation, avoid simply converting the overall °C total or else it will produce a misleading result.)

Well, you beat me at least. What's particular about Hawarden that made it the hottest place in Wales anyway even though it's up north, any microclimate I should know of?

This is Bingley:

Record high: 31.6C
Record low: -11.1C

Range: 42.7C

The problem with the Bingley weather station is where it's sited, if it was in the valley rather than on the hillside I'd expect something more like 33/-16.

St Maur, SE suburbs:

Record high: 42.5°C (109°F)
Record low: -25.6°C (-14°F)

Range: 68.1°C (123°F).

Ok, I call BS on that heat record, here's Paris-Montsouris then.
Record high: 40.4°C (105°F)
Record low:-23.9°C (-11°F)

Range: 64.3°C (116°F).

While I'm at it, here's Nice:
Record high: 37.7°C (100°F)
Record low: -7.1°C (19°F)

Range: 44.8°C (81°F). More than hillside Bingley.

Hottest maximums in Wales, there's a handful lf places down south with greater average highs.

My guess is that it's at a low elevation (5m) and is somewhat sheltered from coastal influence. The mountains to the east and west also create something of a microclimate, making it relatively dry for somewhere in Wales. Most of Wales is mountainous, with a climate that is dominated by the sea. Generally the climate is more similar to Ireland than England. Whereas Hawarden and the surrounding areas are situated very close to the English border, and have a climate similar to most of the southern half of England. The average highs in summer are definitely higher in eastern border areas such as Usk (22.3C in July) and Hawarden (21.4C in July), than they are in western coastal locations, such as Aberdaron (17.6C in July).

Record high: 34.8C
Record low: -33.5C

Amplitude: 68.3C at the nearest station in Norrköping. Will stand no chance compared to any Midwestern climate though
