People in Seattle, and in milder maritime influenced oceanic climates probably cry the sky is falling, it's the end of the world if you all see a low temperature of colder than 15 Degrees Fahrenheit in your local weather forecastgood grief, if a place like Indianapolis could go an entire winter without a low if 10 above F , it would be the gardeners proverbial paradise, and that would put Indianapolis in growing Zone 8 or higher and fig trees could grow here, but in a normal Indianapolis winter us Hoosiers should expect at least a few nights a winter with lows in the single digits above zero if not at least a couple of nights at or below zero......so......as they all say..... if ya don't like the climate you live in, either move to your preferred climate zone or Please STOP complaining about the climate you live in. I wished that the eastern two thirds of the Lower 48 states could have years of record challenging and/ or record breaking warmth, but there is no way in Hell that the polar vortex could ever possibly ever be absent in this part of the world for that long.
Sorry but that is not so easy for some of us otherwise I would be in Honolulu by now

I heard from a friend in BC that 2011 was one of the crappiest summers in Vancouver's history! Not sure if you agree with that assessment!

It's true. 2011 was one of the worst summers in recent history. But this past winter (and fall) was the wettest ever.

Really. Well the all time record low in Indiana is -36, -22 for Indianapolis. Record low for Idaho is -60, -54 for Oregon, and -48 for Washington. So exactly what is a "true arctic blast" like anyway?

True, only the places close to the water (west of the mountains), are mild in winter.

I guess you were way off, SeaTac airport reached 96F this Sunday (June 25th), considering summer just started I wonder how hot the next heat waves will be, it's pretty rare for it to get this hot in June.
