So I just asked her.. she said it was definitely the humidity this early in the spring. We were in Phoenix in late March and it was in the low 90s but felt like the low 80s.
Well it was 88 degrees there yesterday. That's pretty warm by April standards. Though I think she was surprised more with the humidity than anything than what she is used to in April.
88 is not unusual in late April in Houston.
I guess she was at the pool. People don't generally walk around in bathing suits in Houston even in mid summer.
I remember a heat wave in April in 2006 when it got to 98 in Austin for several days. Yesterday was sunny in the upper 80s, today was drizzly/cool in the 60's and tomorrow sunny in the 70's though. So you never know.
It was super cold in parts of NM yesterday....Tucumcari struggling at just above freezing,
with lots of snow....their normal high is in the upper 70s.
Tucumcari is at a relatively "low" elevation for NM....4,084 ft. ASL
Las Vegas, NM .....not to be confused with Nevada Las Vegas....is at a much higher elevation,
6,500 ft in town, 6,800 ft at the airport where the official weather station is.
Someone who's actually knowledgeable about climate and geography would know that A.) A 12 F wind chill in Las Vegas, NV is probably impossible almost in May and B.) Wouldn't be dumb enough to confuse the two.

Comeon let up. I would have got it straight immediately but someone beat me to it. We might have a 12 degree dew point but never a wind chill.
People fall into the Las Vegas, NM trap all the time. And LV NM is an unusual enough place to have very different measurements.
Have always wanted to visit there but will likely never make it. My "mature" body does not like altitude.. I used to have trouble above 10,000 feet but I supsect the limit is lower nowadays.

Considering all the other locations on that list were NM, I thought it would be common sense that it wasn't Las Vegas, NV.
Also, Cambium posts misleading **** like this all the time to make it seem like the cold is a bigger deal than it is, so that's why I'm reacting this way.
I'm sure it is during heatwaves, but as you say most of the time I'm sure it wouldn't feel that hot. It's essentially Nice in July with way less sunshine and more rain.
And whilst people rightly point out the humidity as a factor, I often find that people underestimate the sun when it comes to hot, dry, sunny cimates like Seville, Las Vegas etc. These places have clear blue skies day after day with the sun high in the sky and that really is what makes you feel hotter.
New York City temps are more essentially Toulon in summer in my opinion. Maybe Washington D.C. could be worse than Vegas during some summers I don't really know.
