You do realise that 26C is virtually 80F don't you? lol So even if the forecast stays as 26C no doubt it will be a degree or so warmer anyway... And as has been mentioned countless times WeatherOnline forecasts are auto generated from the GFS model runs every six hours, they have no human input, the BBC TV forecasts are still saying 30C by the weekend in SE England...

I mean sooner or later they will reach 80F this year, just wondering why when it happens is so important. Whether it happens now or later it doesn't determine what the overall summer will be like. Weather can change on a dime. It could happen in late June and then July and August could end up super above avg, or it could happen in April and the summer be a cool one.
Other people have created similar polls before, for x temperature in y city.

Only this one has turned into a major thread with pages and pages of mostly off topic discussion.

I think 80 degrees to them is like 90 degrees here. So it's like a warm weather benchmark. If I'm not mistaken, the avg about 10-14 days at or above 80? Chicago averages 23 days at or above 90F and here 35 miles further south 26 days.

No, it is not. 79F is not 80F. Talking about stats, not about how it feels. Otherwise, 75 and sunny is as nice as 80. But this is the weather forum, not the local park.

But the WO forecast will usually be 1-2c cooler than what is actually recorded.

We get about 15-20 days above 80F. The 14 day figure is for days above 27c.

We get about 9 days above 29, 4-5 above 30.

Yeah but I don't give a crap when we reach 90F, and I don't see this 80F threshold for Paris or Berlin? These benchmarks aren't really useful in determining what the weather will do in the long term. London should get an above avg summer this year based on statistics alone. You can't have repeated below avg seasons year after year without it flipping. Mother Nature likes balance.

PMSL 80F is 26.7C, & I said 79F is VIRTUALLY 80F, 1 degree away, hardly the same as 75F & 80F And my point is that even if 26C is being forecast then it is highly likely that slightly higher temperatures will be recorded anyway.
