I think it was a mistake to use the word "Mediterranean" to describe the classification. It puts a preconception in your mind that a lot of climates are unable to live up to, even if they technically meet the criteria.

Southsea was in 1976-2005 and I think the station is defunct now so we'll never know I guess Looking at the place though it's as "good as a med climate" in terms of patterns, it's just that winter low-pressure systems aren't strong enough in the wake of the Devon mountains.

Bizarre that they closed down one of the country's most unique stations.

Since when do weather services make any sense? They have a station in my county called Floda - an irrelevant frost hollow where nobody lives, yet can't muster a single station neither in Nyköping, at Skavsta Airport (3 miles NW of Nyköping) nor in Katrineholm.

Rediculous

Warmth is relative and Victoria averages more sunshine hours in its sunniest month than Barcelona and Valencia in Spain. So are Barcelona and Valencia not Mediterranean then? Victoria has also recorded over 432 hours of sunshine before in a month. That is probably as good as any place in the Mediterranean can get.

But what was the overall percentage? Victoria is at a higher latitude than either of those locations, which gives it an advantage during the summer when you accumulate the hours as a numerical total.

Barcelona is pretty much humid subtropical due to its absolute crazy ding-dong precipitation pattern!

It's not like Victoria is on the north pole.

Ok, so going back to the more traditional definition, being a place that can grow subtropical plants and having dry summers, would these count?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reddin...fornia#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eureka...fornia#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookings,_Oregon#Climate

and yes Eureka can grow subtropical plants

same thing with Brookings
https://www.google.com/maps/@42.0424...!7i3328!8i1664

Brookings also has 10 months with a mean above 10C and all months above 9C
