We get that kind of cold virtually every winter and nobody celebrates.

I don't understand that at all. Weather in other places could never cause me any real happiness (or sadness for that matter) because it doesn't affect me lol.

Not to say global weather events and climates aren't interesting, just that it comes in a distant second to things actually impacting my life.

I think climate is something that you don't really notice unless it's really bad

I'm interested in extreme events(cold, heat, rain, snow), anything who I consider "normal" I dont care so much.
The climate here is so so so so boring that I need to look for another parts of the world to feel nice when studying the weather.

Idk man, when I lived in NYC I actually forgot about the climate for a while. Unless it was a snowy winter like 09/10 or an extremely himid summer I didnt look at the temperatures. The only time I really start to care about climate is when I live in a frozen hellhole like Moscow or Binghamton

Ghost, the cold snap you first noticed is getting more promising run by run. Look at the latest GFS meteorogram for Esquel, by instance:

Palider should take his dog in the house

I see, all the 3 important models are showing an very cold and snowy scenario for Patagonia, principally for Chubut province, with 1 meter of snow near the border with Rio Negro.
Almost all Patagonia except the extreme northeast may get at least an light snowfall from this system.
You image didn't opened here, but I've take a look at the meteogram for Esquel and it now show -19.9C for next Saturday, which is crazy, the last time Esquel had a temperature below -15C was back in 2007
Rio Turbio keep being the one with coldest temperatures that I'm seeing, hope to there have some weather station :

Wonder if today's sunniness is random or if this is going to last a couple of days
