Winds out of the northeast keeeping the south cooler than the north... wtf is up with NYCs forecast, isnt the average 70 now? .. this september has been remarkable. Bet NYC finishs warmer than most of Tennessee... still about 1.5 degrees below average here, far cry from the 6 degrees or so of mid month.
It’s been dry lately, allowing for more accurate readings at KNYC.
Oh snap, that's right. Been dry = easier to enhance surface heat. No wonder why it was easy to achieve upper 80s/90s today.
If it wasn't for October 8, 2007, JFK would be having their latest 90° day today September 24th. In other words, it's rare. (since 1948). They rarely hit 90 after 23rd.
If it wasn't for September 24, 2010, Westfield, MA would have their latest 90° day this year. Never had one after Sept 24th. So this is pretty rare for them too.
Burlington, Vermont has never been hotter than 85° after September 23rd till today.
Everyone else around with 80s and 90s is pretty much an "its happened" scenario.
NYC gets 90s into October sometimes. DC as well of course.
Williamsport, PA had some 90s in October too.
86 is high today.... would love record heat but its keeping to the north... only 2 90 degree days this month. Average? 4 though we did have a bit later last 90 of year... this is all if we dont hit 90 in october, but since the usa is flipped now and this is the north no chance of that!
