Last time NYC & Bridgeport seen a max temp of 10+ below normal was Sept 2-3. It's been a while!.

In fact... there were more 10+ below normal days over Summer than this fall!

Surface Temp anomaly shown here for Friday afternoon

And the reason is..............

5000 foot Bullseye for Northeast. lol

Just a simple dig with very cold air aloft. 5000' temp anomaly Friday afternoon shown here.

I would have thought a warm mid September to October would be my dream fall as before it’s already hot enough and after the days are short, even above average is colder than I’d like and vegetation mostly bare. Except it resulted in rather subpar foliage

So your dream is for it to be well well above normal? The Avg Temp at Hartford for Mid Sept-Mid Oct was 67°. Hottest on record by a few degrees too. So I doubt you'll see your dream in the area then. So you want the Avg temp to be in the 70s?

You getting flakes or sleet tonight?

3:40pm Radar and Metars.

Lightly snowing/Flurries in Scranton and it's 33° & sleeting/Mixing in Monticello, NY at 1400'

I'm about to get a cool 45° rain shower

Pittsfield, MA now reporting light snow. Greylock must be getting a blanket of white right now. I saw some snow pics from PA mostly above 600'.

I don't know if I would start the hype with this though. It's not the Polar Vortex hitting. Maybe I misunderstand him. Actually Troposphere and Stratosphere PV are different.

Either way play the loop and watch how the Northeast gets clipped
