Chain places are also not so great. I'd take a nice family-owned Italian bakery instead.

Depends on the open space. If it's some ugly, derelict brownfield site, then I would much rather have a building there.

Police stopped me because he claimed I hadn't signaled and thought my car was unregistered ( I never bothered to remove my old sticker). Didn't see him; Opened my driver door almost into the cop. "Stay in the car" he said. Stayed there and did nothing; " open the window " well now you say so

No ticket so can't really complain

Then don't go to the chain, no need to block it from being built

I don't really like wide open spaces, especially if they are just lawns or concrete. I think it is better to plant trees or do some nice landscaping

Well, sure. But I'm not a very big fan of developing on land that used to be beautiful countryside or farm land. It has happened a lot of my corner of southwest Jersey. You'd understand if you lived here. I'm not really talking about the suburbs that are already quite built up. And for big box stores and stuff like that? Totally unnecessary. I can already get everything I need.

Actually, local residents SHOULD have a say, because it still affects them.

Lol I love that, BANANAS. That describes them perfectly.

They're the main reason why a crossing between Long Island and Connecticut could never be built, despite the demand for it.

I do too. But this is a shopping district, on a major street flanked by a mid-sized mall on one side and two smaller strip malls on the other side, lined with both small and large businesses for miles in both directions. Locals literally fight every development.

Italian bakeries are the best, I can't get enough of them. I always love getting cannoli or lobster tail there, and I love their $1.50 coffee fresh in the morning, beats the hell out of the overpriced $4 crap from Starbucks

As a New Yorker I approve this just cause that would mean less traffic

NIMBYs did some good things before honestly, they stopped Robert Moses from turning Lower Manhattan into an industrial wasteland of highways. If you don't know who Robert Moses was, he was an urban planner who had a hard-on for highways and suburbs, hated black people, and pretty much wanted to turn New York City into a transfer hub between Lond Island and Westchester. He was lowkey a massive ******* and one of the biggest dickheads in history
