Nice summary and that shows things well rather than posting maps and stuff! NWS might recruit you. Nice work.
nice work, but hard to interpret since I can't remember when Craziaskowboi lives,

Euro00z 5000' temp anomaly Christmas evening. Core moves into Northeast next day. Euro slower with that front. GFS says Christmas is much colder for here and Vermont because its bit faster with that front
here's what the GFS says for the actual 850 hPa temperatures rather than anomalies. A very cold airmass; -32°C over the Upper Midwest. I like that tropicaltidbits masks out areas too high in elevation to have an 850 hPa; often those numbers make little sense when they're interpolated from above. Neat way to show where the high elevation areas of the West are, too.
Euro. Finally checking out that weather.us site Ryan Maue is a part of
slightly different timing, same pattern. 850 hPa only reach -28°C. And here's surface temperatures over Canada and northern US. Notice the contrast east vs west of the Rockies and the tongue of cold entering Wisconsin
Just switched over to snow in Bellingham, was raining there before. Big contrast right now: Seattle is 43°F and Bellingham 34°F. Seattle is forecast to get a few flakes overnight; looks like you're getting a nice stretch of sun for the next few days after that; though rather chilly.
I think its pretty neat how the cold weather line comes to a hault when it reaches the Phoenix, AZ desert . I know its the mountains elevation change, but seeing it on that map above . What I would do to move there.. :/..
