Yup. I want to say "Isn't that always the case? It's not like there's "winter" down there. I always thought 80s was normal in February in Florida. lol Normal is mid 70s south of Orlando.

Did you see what might develop next week?? Maybe my "early spring" prediction for Northeast might come true after all. 60s up to Virginia with this.

Ew. No please lol, I'm okay with 30s and some of the snow melting, but not spring yet! 2 or 3 more weeks than I'll be ready for it.

We used to have cold and nasty marches in the 80's. Now it is just hot year round the last 7 years. Jan was the only month we had below normal temps since 2010. It's gonna be a record dry and hot spring for us.

Record fires also for our state nate. All that dead stuff from cold temps in Jan and no rain for many months will mean fires for sure.

2:30-6:30am loop with storm reports. Chicago in the crosshairs.. Nice heavy band over them. I think ChicagoGeorge is missing it.

Pretty flat flow but there's a slight digging.. Moisture moving in the direction the upper flow is.

I see another half foot fell in Iowa overnight. 7 of the last 9 days had snow falling in Des Moines.

The blue outline is this...

Gotta run so making this quick...

A look at the 5000' temps and Upper heights this morning.. I assume that Polar Vortex is leaving (rotating back around) based on its position right now.

Cold air bottled up in Canada. Not an amplified pattern over the U.S. Some Arctic air spilling into northern tier but that's pretty much it.

Warm Southern Tier.. SouthEast ridge wants to flex already? Maybe

(I drew the Jet too far south, #RushPost)

Joe Bastardi will be wrong for the East with his forecast for cold. However he's not wrong that the teleconnections do show signs for widespread below average for the later half of Feb into early March. Will the models win out thanks to the strength of the SE Ridge?
