Looks like London will have to wait until December, based on the latest forecast.

I think it will go below 0 tonight. So far we haven't managed the first air frost unbelievably.

No freezing temps here since that random freeze on Nov 11, nearly a month ago.

If it weren’t for that November freeze, we’d be having our first freeze this weekend. And my prediction would’ve been spot on.

KNYC (Central Park) recorded a freeze on November 23rd as well.

So it might depend on where you are.

Farther east, Islip has recorded 10 freezes since November 11th.

First frost defined as the first 4C (39.2F) or lower after the last frost-free month of the year, except 2017 which is knowledge

2010 1st Frost: Aug 30 (3.6C)
2011 1st Frost: Aug 19 (3.9C)
2012 1st Frost: Aug 31 (3.7C)
2013 1st Frost: Sep 15 (3.4C)
2014 1st Frost: Aug 20 (3.9C)
2015 1st Frost: Sep 6 (3.3C)*
2016 1st Frost: Oct 3 (3.5C)
2017 1st Frost: Oct 30 (0.1C)

2010 1st Freeze: Oct 17
2011 1st Freeze: Oct 20
2012 1st Freeze: Oct 14
2013 1st Freeze: Nov 13
2014 1st Freeze: Nov 5
2015 1st Freeze: Nov 22
2016 1st Freeze: Nov 6
2017 1st Freeze: Nov 6

2010-11 1st snow: Nov 16
2011-12 1st Snow: Feb 4
2012-13 1st Snow: Dec 2
2013-14 1st Snow: None
2014-15 1st Snow: Jan 17
2015-16 1st Snow: Nov 21
2016-17 1st Snow: Jan 13
2017-18 1st Snow: Dec 8

*In 2015, ground frost occurred in every month of the year except August, and on July 31 the temperature fell to a record low of 2.7C for July. Despite this, the first air frost was very late on Nov 22 and there were no air frosts at all in December, in fact ironically whilst the lowest temperature for July was 2.7C, the lowest for December was also 2.7C!

Funny how in the US the first snow comes with the frost, but in the UK the first snow comes when the first cold, wet air arrives. There is plenty of cold, dry air and mild, wet air early in the season, but you have to wait till later for cold, wet air

Also even though we get snow almost every year, it rarely amounts to much. The last date with measurable snow accumulation was January 31, 2015 with 0.8 CM.

Where I live the first snow almost never comes with the first frost. I think that's more of a thing in the coastal Northeast and possibly Great Lakes regions.
