Detroit is somewhat protected from arctic outbreaks because the Great Lakes usually moderate the extremely cold temperatures as they move over the warmer lakes.

Detroit. At least it has a decent,pleasant summer/warm season, good precipitation numbers/humidity levels and, typical of continental US, the temps recover rapidly there after the brutal winter. In the other hand Gospic is too humid and cloudy and the summer is weak. Winter's temps are nice, but the cold season is too long and it seems to be too snowy if you go by the number of snowy days.
Not a fan of either, tough.

No one of this 2 cities does not have desert climate.

Gospić is pretty wet and has cool summers, Detroit is drier but still pretty wet but has warmer summers.
