Stumbled upon this neat map the other day on reddit and figured I'd post here because why not, it's a weather forum lol. How accurate would you say this map is?

I read somewhere that Vancouver, BC's closest match is Queenstown, NZ. So what you posted doesn't seem too far off.

In general people do say that the weather around Seattle and Vancouver, BC is a lot like " British " weather, except for usually better and drier summers.

I was kind of surprised to see Leon in Northern Spain placed right beside Seattle, since Seattle gets almost twice as much rain.

Those places in NewZealand are somewhat similar for temperatures, but have very different sun/rain distribution, with max sun percentage in winter and Summer having higher rainfall than winter months.

Queenstown is somewhat similar to Vancouver for temperature, but has very different rainfall distribution, and nearly 60% of possible sunshine.

Southern Chile around the same latitude would match well in temperature and rainfall pattern.

Joe, not so sure about the 60% of possible sunshine ....

Wiki has 1929 sunshine hours for Queenstown.

1937 sunshine hours for Vancouver

Pretty much a tie I’d say.

Considering the rain distribution, Seattle is more close to San Martín de los Andes than Christchurch.

The Portland/Bordeaux connection makes perfect sense if you consider the excellent wines produced in each place.

Queenstown hours aren't adjusted for horizon obstruction - estimates are around 59%.

Vancouver has mountains too around the city.. certainly we would have some horizon obstruction too?

Not disputing your claim that Queenstown is sunnier in winter because I am sure it's true. However, with our sunny summer days the difference at the end of the year is probably not that great.
