5pm. And yet another thunderstorm this yr. And Pouring.
I'm green with envy (thus blending in with the upper garden's follage! Seriously, though, Cambium, came home for the 3rd night hoping to see it rained just a bit and nary a drop! Ugh! HAVE to water tonight the Green Peppers were wilted when we came home!
We never got above 69f here today, it's been rainy and there's a steady rolling wind coming up the mountain, which usually signals the fall season is near. We get some very strong winds here but not in the summer. I hadn't felt winds like that since April. They're not strong but still a steady wave of winds coming in.
We are gonna flop flop back to a southeast windflow. So less rain chances but could be some stronger storms in my area later in the day for the next few days and more heat.
Smoke is back in Vancouver. With no rain in the foreseeable future and several new fires ramping up over the past week, the wildfire situation - along with the air quality - is only going to get worse.
The air was actually kind of dry today in northeast Georgia, and they're saying it'll be dry tomorrow too. This is a nice respite during an otherwise humid and stormy summer.
Athens has had 54 days with temperatures of 90°F or higher this summer, which means that any subsequent 90°F days will put this summer above normal in that regard, since the average for any summer since 1900 is 54 days. However, Athens has only had three days of 95°F temperatures this summer, which is much below normal, and a maximum of 96°F, which is slightly below normal.
This has also been a front-loaded summer, with the maximum temperature occurring on June 19 and June 20, and July 12 being the only other 95°F day this summer. Furthermore, the temperature has stayed below 90°F on 12 out of 29 days since July 17, and the average daily temperature was below normal for 16 straight days from July 20-August 4. The monthly temperature anomaly was +3.5°F in May and +1.8°F in June, but -0.9°F in July, and -0.8°F so far in August.
Every month since April has had above-normal precipitation, with anomalies of +2.34" in April, +6.31" in May, +3.10" in June, +0.51" in July, and +1.44" so far in August. Since May 15, Athens has had measurable precipitation on 51 out of 92 days, including 19 consecutive days from May 15-June 2 that totaled 9.76" of rain. Other wet periods include eight out of nine days with measurable precipitation from June 21-29 that totaled 6.02" of rain, 10 out of 12 days from July 14-25 that totaled 1.66" of rain, and five out of six days from July 29-August 3 that totaled 4.74" of rain. Only 32 of the last 92 days have been completely dry, without even a trace of rain.
By and large, this summer has been a washout, though still not as pathetic and depressing as 2013. Bring on the fall already.

What direction winds makes it worse? I assume south or west? I see breaks coming next 10 days with north winds but not until Monday.

Yeah, it's been interesting to see how much drier northern New England is vs Southern. I hope this pattern stays the same throughout winter!
My backyard 7am OBS reports this month.. Only 3 days with no rain.
Central PA. Pretty sure many others in the region are similar. And no Tropical System this time. Just slower/stalled fronts, LPs, troughs and ULLs were the causes.
