European show another cold blast late next week, historical June for Patagonia.
I am interested to know how many hours in the day from May 31st to June 9th the temperature was above freezing...

Sorry but I didn't found this information anywhere.

Well, this cold air will strike Southern Brazil and Uruguay with it full strenght, next morning have eveything to be the coldest of the year. Interesting that the model show the coldest temperature over the pampas of RS instead the high elevations of SC.

This cold snap had been specially significative in Andean Patagonia, but less so in the desert. This wasn't historical for Maquinchao, just a regular one. In the other hand, an andean town as San Martin de los Andes had a max of -7.5ºC yesterday!!

Some mins today in BA's metro:

Aeroparque: 4,8°C
Central Station: 2,4°C
Quilmes: 2,3°C
Morón: 0,9°C
La Plata Aero: 0,8°C
San Fernando: 0,2°C
Ezeiza: -0,5°C
Zárate: -0,5°C
Merlo: -1,0°C
Campo de Mayo: -1,7°C
Moreno: -2,0°C
El Palomar: -2,0°C
Luján: -2,8°C

And there were frosts in the outskirts:

Tomorrow we'll have even lower lows here.

---

Meanwhile, the north was a roller coaster these last weeks. Look at the swings in Salta:

Coyhaique had 5 ice days with low in the -10s, but yes, wasnt all that historic since in 2002 it had a high of -10C, which is insane for any Southern Hemisphere town at 300m of altitude.

Also, damn, why it is so hard to some parts of BA get below freezing

So yesterday relatively warm air arrived from the pacific and now pretty much all the snow is gone, and my two snowmen with it. They barely didn't make it to the weekend as I had predicted they could.

Now the forecast is predicting a lot of rain for tomorrow, monday and tuesday but apparently there's another pulse of cold air coming from Antarctica so we could be getting snow yet again.

According to this site Comodoro Rivadavia has experienced highs below 0°C twice:

* First in June 25th, 1984 with a high of -0.4°C.

* Then more recently in July 23, 2001 with high of -0.8°C.

2001 was apparently record cold for Patagonia. Esquel had a high of -10°C on July 26, 2001.

This is just June 5-12, but that's a fair chunk of winter so far. Slightly above average so far if anything. This cold snap will last all of about three days then right back to normal.

Don't forget also that the outlook is based on "chance of above median", there's nothing definite about it, even a 90% of going above median gives a 10% chance of going below. They were wrong about autumn here though, they were predicting more below median than above and instead it was a near record breaker.
