I broke out my jacket for the first time this morning. It was in the upper 40s when I left for work. I won't need it later but it was just a bit chilly. Now that we're finally getting some colder nights and days in a row, I'm expecting some color to start popping on the trees. It's still about 4 weeks before fall colors typically peak here but a few trees usually start changing color by the end of September. We're still running about 5 degrees above normal for temperature this month, even with the sudden cooler weather. Currently we would tie for the 5th warmest September on record. We'll have to see how these last 3 days play out but they should remain below normal, cooling our average a bit more. If the forecast highs and lows hold through the last few days of the month, our average temp will fall to 71.1 from the current 72.4. It would be just enough to drop us out of the top 10 warmest Septembers ever, so we will see.
Yet another round of cold and snow for Alberta. This time the south will bear the brunt of the snow. Widespread temperatures between -5°C and -10°C Sunday morning in central and northern Alberta Sunday morning where the skies will be more clear.
