The 3 W's today. Warm, Windy, and Wet. Lots of rain expected today. Winds gusting to 35mph. And a high temp in the mid-50s. No snow in the 10-day at all as of right now. Rain returns Sunday night into New Year's Eve but it looks to stay warm enough to be all liquid. A major cool down is coming for the first of the year with highs next Wednesday only in the 20s. NWS Indy says a models are hinting at a new system trying to pull through the Ohio Valley midweek next week, but not a single forecaster is mentioning anything but sunshine. We shall see. If it happens and temps stay as they are forecast, that could finally bring us some snow.

Now it doesn't look so cold here in mid January... but Europe and also New England look cold.

Model confusion?

Sunny and 49 degrees in Austin, the cold front made it through. A little over 2" recorded at my house. This should put the rainfall for the month over the average, so good news there.

High of 68 degrees expected under clear sunny skies. The dewpoint is 46 degrees, yesterday was 66 degrees. So even though the temp will be warmer today in the afternoon, the humidity is much much lower.

Wow. What a line for morning hours. Tornado warnings in red boxes. Torential rains under the reds. Strong wind gusts as it pushes through

Dewpoints in the 60s ahead of that line.
Temps in the 50s behind that line

2 more days of nice weather in Austin then the bottom falls out.

sunny and 69 today, low of 41 tonight under clear skies. Stronger north wind picks up tonight. Currently 56F at 10:20 AM.
sunny and 60 tomorrow, low of 38 tomorrow night. Cooler but still nice.
Then the bottom falls out, high of 46 under heavy rain, arctic air at surface, Gulf humidity in upper atmosphere, classic overrunning conditions which usually produce our coldest high temps. Because of cloud cover we still stay above freezing. Low of 39. We'll see the timing of this, How soon it comes in can greatly influence the temps. My fireplace is ready for a fire when the cold arrives!

The poinsettias are loving this weather. Look how great they are doing! Good ole Texas sol is drying out the ground but it has a lot of work to do after 2" of rain.
