About one inch of snow was predicted for tonight's system, but it over-performed--I just measured 4 inches, and heavy snow is falling with a temperature of 20 degrees. 2-6 inches are possible tomorrow, but temperatures will warm up enough by Tuesday for rain to be falling across most of Western Washington--disappointing, since it has originally seemed like the low would come in further south, bringing an extended period of snow. Here's a good blog post about the upcoming situation from local professional met Cliff Mass:
Current Radar and Water Vapor Map. Once again... the flow is from the Pacific for our storm. (Warm air will be mixed in). A familiar view all winter. The Jet stream is digging too much in the West. We need a ridge in the West to cut off this Pacific flow! It's better to have a Gulf of Mexico flow with the Jet stream dipping down to Georgia
Alert: ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TUESDAY TO 6 AM
EST WEDNESDAY...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze to up to one tenth of an inch expected.

Current Temps and where the Jet Stream is. Give or take. You can see why the north pacific storms are hitting the NorthWest and why its cold there giving them a Memorable February
