After a very quiet December overall, with most below normal temps, we are having a hot Christmas. Still, not as hot as some we had in the latest years, though. 22/30.8C on Christmas Eve and 20.3/30.3C today. Both hottest days of the month so far.

Yikes. I saw that record high. Northwest Australia is very hot because it tends to bypass the monsoon season that north and northeast Australia get. It's a shame there's no big city there, it would be a perfect year round beach location.

Looks like Adelaide is the only big Australian city in on the heatwave.

CBach, the only decent sized towns in the Pilbara (north west of western australia) are port hedland and karratha. Never been to port hedland but karratha is a decent enough place and some of the beachfront towns nearby are really nice. The pilbara is more known for it's amazing inland locations rather than it's beaches.

New Year's Eve was pretty calm, but the new year has started really hot today. Right now, 31.5C and heat index of 38.5C. Look at the dew points right now, La Plata River Basin is higher and more redish than Amazon Basin!

Dew Points last 24 hours here. What a torch

Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires registered a record 27C dew point (records data since 1956)!

Very impressive temperature swing yesterday (Friday) in Melbourne as the cool change moved through. Temperature dropped about 20C in 45 minutes from 42C to 22C.
