Glorious 42C after midnight

That would be at Marree I think. Maximum there was 48.0°C. Oodnadatta scored 47.9°C. Real Death Valley stuff.
For tomorrow (Tuesday) Tarcoola is forecast to reach 48°C and Oak Valley 49°C. Numerous other spots on 47°C. So there's a real chance at reaching 120°F=48.9°C.
Will anyone reach the magic 50°C?

At 12:00 noon Tarcoola have already equalled yesterday's maximum of 45.4°C. Yesterday at the same time they were only 39.5°C. How high will they go?

At 1300h Tarcoola now up to 47°C.
Climbing impressively but still a long way to go.
On the plus side, maximums there occur late in the day--usually around 1800h--so lots of potential heating still to come.
On the negative side, the change seems to have reached Ceduna 180km to the southwest at 1130h--unless that's just a sea breeze.

Some observations from my region—Snowy Monaro Shire:
Managed up to 33.4° C today on the paddocks (1,280 m AMSL);
Cooma Airport (930 m AMSL) managed up to 36.9° C;
Even bloody Cabramurra (1,482 m AMSL) managed 30.6° C...splendid!

Shame nobody got to 50°C. So very hard to reach in Australia, all the stars need to align just right. Still, all-time record highs are nothing to sneeze at.
BOM forecasting 49°C for Tarcoola on Wednesday. Seems optimistic to me: satellite images are showing some cloud building in from the southwest that could moderate temperatures slightly. Personally I think the heat will focus a little more to the east around Marree and Moomba. 50°C seems very unlikely at this point.

Sydney has been more humid than usual in this summer. 34°C right now with dewpoint around 21°C. Pretty strange, because when it gets that hot, the dewpoints usually decrease. Yikes.
We're expected to hit 43°C this Friday.
