Some of the hot spots in South Australia at 12:30pm Adelaide time compared to 24 hours ago:

Tarcoola 46.9°C (+1.1°C)
Woomera 45.5 (+1.0)
Coober Pedy 45.3 (+0.7)

Marree 44.2 (+0.1)
Moomba 43.1 (+0.2)
Oodnadatta 42.9 (-1.5)

Guess I was wrong about the heat focusing further east. It will be interesting to see how things play out in Tarcoola.

Reaching 50ºC in Australia is like going above 35ºC in some tropical equatorial place. Too close yet too far

---

All day with a light rain here, max of only 24ºC. This summer have been very wet and surprisingly cool so far, actually on pace to become the coolest in last 20 years.

34.7° C seems to be my maximum for today;

Cabramurra's 32.1° C has also just surpassed its previous 31.9° C record, too.

And that's an all-time record for Cabramurra, correct? Not just a record for the date.

Aye, correct; all-time record broken.

Perisher also broke its all-time record high; 30.1° C today, old record 29.8° C.

Splendid!

Selected maximums yesterday in South Australia:

Tarcoola 48.7°C
Woomera 47.6°C
Coober Pedy 47.0°C (at least--official maximum not reported)
Marree 46.7°C (at least--same deal)
Moomba 47.0°C

Hot spot today in SA is Marree with a max so far of 46°C.

In NSW 40s all over the place as far east as Gunnedah. Hot spot seems to be either Bourke at 46.3°C or Noona at 46.4°C. However 50°C seems unassailable.
