Took a walk to the canal, the sun is now getting stronger, to the extent where the unshaded snow is melting much faster.

I'm not sure where to post these but there doesn't seem to be a Southern Hemisphere photo thread so here goes. Not exactly winter here right now...

A couple of days ago we went for a walk in the Gold Coast hinterland and ended up in one of the deepest darkest jungles I've ever been in.

Were it not for the creek there would have been no way through. Beautiful stuff--just beware of leeches and other creepy-crawlies

Then yesterday we had an opportunity to go sailing on Moreton Bay.

Setting out.

The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

Showers threatened to form but never actually materialized.

Our destination was Horseshoe Bay on Peel Island. A very picturesque but also very popular spot.

Whoa! Nice looking jungle. A lot of different plant and tree types

I looked on the map out of curiousty. Lamington National Park. I'll put on my bucket list. Looks like an awesome spot.
How are the locals? A lot of tourists? Is it hot there? Fall coming soon.

Looks like there may have been showers way back there. Is that the Coral sea? Looks like a rain shaft maybe.

Great photographs, Lamington looks nice!

Getting pretty cheap to fly there now too, $1100 cad with taxes... I remember looking 10 years ago and it was 1500-2000.
