Is that site reliable? Never heard of it and I have a hard time believing that number.

I don’t know. It says it has 5 hours per day in March, which is very high considering the precipitation

I don’t even see where you are getting these numbers from on that website. I don’t see 1887 hrs anywhere

F. Too cold year-round with probably only 1000-1200 hrs of sunshine. Precipitation and snowfall are too high.

This is actually a duplicate. Here is the original thread: Rate the climate: Yakutat

Looks like we lost a lot of cold lovers and 4-season lovers.

No way it gets 1800+ sun hours. Not a whole heck of a lot to do there. My dad used to go moose hunting in the vicinity. Fall season, pretty much constant rain. Flooded tent once with about 10 inches in 24 hours.
Home of Mt Saint Elias. If you haven't seen an image, check it out. 18,000 ft fairly close to tidewater. Storms back up against it, hence the heavy precipitation.
Also, look at map and see how this area looks like a catchers mitt for the regular storms coming across gulf of Alaska.

Grade: 57.5% / E+

This climate's biggest problems are too much precipitation and non-existent summers. That being said, it's semi-livable, but not a good climate.

Winter mean / Summer mean / Seasonal range / Precip / Seasonal lag / Snowfall / Record range*

93 / 54 / 60 / 42 / 57 / 50 / 81

I agree. That much precipitation in such a cold climate though would be massively dismal though!

Indeed, on the open ocean means never warm even in summer. However, inland towns in SE Alaska region have best summer weather in the US, in my humble opinion.
Usually 60s and overcast, maybe 70s when sun is out. Never hot...
