Of what I've experienced in the South, most of my "worsts" are when the seasons can't make up their minds and result in either a half-hearted snowfall or a middling temperature and high humidity.

1. Heavy snowfall but on the ground it's above freezing, or several days in a row where the snow partially melts during the day and turns into a sheet of ice at night.

2. High humidity (post rainfall) below a temperature that the A/C is set to. Outside isn't so oppressive, but it creates 60% humidity in the house where if you run the a/c you'll freeze before you dry and you're not necessarily interested in turning on the heat. I've heard advice against running the heat pump in cooling mode when it's cold outside, so we are in the market for a dehumidifier.

#2 can be solved with an A/C unit that has a dehumidifying (not cooling) mode. Or alternatively opening the window and turning on the heat. The heat will dry it out and the open window will cool it down.

My worst would have to be either:

30 degrees F with North winds on a snowy day with 1ft+ already on the ground.

or

80 degrees F calm bright sunny day

Anything in between those extremes I can deal with. But I prefer the colder side of the spectrum.

Do people prefer 40°C or 104°F?

40C, of course. It sounds cooler.

Boring, endlessly sunny 16°-24° C "delightful" codswallop with no wind

That is my worst weather condition; much to my fortune, I don't receive much of that

Arica is too hot in summer and too dull in winter. More like Walvis Bay all year.
