This thread is born from a post I made in another thread.

So basically post at least one example of a climate for each grade from A-F, so we get an idea of what your ultimate climate preferences are.

This is mine:

Below are climate examples for each of my categories of grading:

A+ Humid subtropical with dry winters, much summer heat and many thunderstorms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamabad#Climate

A Humid subtropical with seasonal variation and many thunderstorms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans#Climate

A- Humid subtropical but lacking in seasonal variation and not as many thunderstorms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brisbane#Climate

B+ Subtropical/tropical borderline climate with year round rainfall and many thunderstorms but not ideal seasonal variation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miami#Climate

B Tropical climate with dry "winter" and many thunderstorms in wet season, but too hot and lacking in seasonal variation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%27Djamena#Climate

B- Tropical climate with little rainfall and not enough thunderstorms, not enough seasonal variation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honolulu#Climate

C+ Mediterranean climate with nice summer/winter temps but rainfall in wrong season restricts it to a C
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malta#Climate

C Mediterranean climate with hot summer but too dry and lacking in storms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seville#Climate

C- Mediterranean climate with nice summer temps, winters a bit too cool and wet
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naples#Climate

D+ Four season climate whereby summers are decent but winters too cold for a C
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City#Climate

D Oceanic climate with mild summers and winters, few thunderstorms, cloudy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London#Climate

D- Oceanic climate with cool summers and mild winters, few/no thunderstorms, cloudy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield#Climate

E+ Climate with anemic summers and cold crappy winters.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburg#Climate

E Oceanic climate with pathetic summers and lots of rain and cloud, no thunderstorms.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buxton#Climate

E- Oceanic climate with mild winters and cool, pathetic summers, no sunshine.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lerwick#Climate

F+ Horrid climate with freezing winters and pathetic summers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Jo...brador#Climate

F Showing it's not all about temps, this climate gets an F for being stupidly wet.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherrapunji#Climate
A more typical F climate for me would be one like this which has stupid cold winters.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgary#Climate

F- Frigid POS climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utqiagvik,_Alaska#Climate

In conclusion for me it seems to simplify things:

A = subtropical variants
B = tropical variants
C = mediterranean variants
D = oceanic variants
E = cool oceanic and continental cold-winter variants
F = excessively cold or wet much of the year

A+: Awesome climate that is almost a carbon copy of my dream climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulcinj#Climate

A: Another awesome climate but not an A+ due to precipitation being lower than ideal
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome#Climate

A-: Great climate, but slightly too hot and humid in summer and too unstable in winter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta#Climate

B+: Very good climate, but too hot and humid in August and too cloudy, maybe a bit cold in winter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo#Climate

B: Good 4-season climate with near-perfect summers and too-cold winters
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City#Climate

B-: Good climate, but too boring with too little seasonal variation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney#Climate

C+: Acceptable climate, too cold in winter
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago#Climate

C: Acceptable climate, too cool in summer and too cloudy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London#Climate

C-: Acceptable climate, too warm year-round
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong#Climate

D+: Poor climate, too warm year-round and seasonless, but never gets extremely hot
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore#Climate

D: Poor climate, much too hot in summer, too warm in winter, and way too dry year-round
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix,_Arizona#Climate

D-: Poor climate, too cold year-round with very cloudy winters
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow#Climate

F: Horrible climate, extremely cold winters with only 5 mild to warm months
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg#Climate

Basically, my ideal climate is a "3-season" climate with warm to hot summers, cool winters, and adequate precipitation and sunshine year-round. The farther a climate deviates from my ideal, the lower the grade for that climate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limoges#Climate (borderline A+- prefer summer a touch drier)

B: moderated Dfa's, mediocre Cfbs (too cool summers, too mild winters, too gloomy, too dry), seasonal Cwb's, Csb's (no snow), "German" Cfb/Dfb's.. and mild Cfa/Csa's on the bottom end

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edinburgh#Climate (too gloomy, too cool summers)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provid...Island#Climate (too continental)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A3o_Joaquim#Climate (winters too mild, too wet)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_...fornia#Climate (winters too mild, summers too dry)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin#Climate (winters too cold and too dry overall)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genoa#Climate (summer too hot and muggy, winters a bit too mild)

C: bad Dfa/Dwa's, most Dfbs, most Cfa/Cwa/Csa, and Bsk, non-seasonal subtropical highland (on the higher end as well)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazan#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuzhou#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reno,_Nevada#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addis_Ababa (C+)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijing#Climate (C+: winters too dry and cold and summers too hot and wet, but nice, crisp autumn!)

D: most Af/Aw/As/Am, most hot desert climates with a cool season...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakarta#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix,_Arizona#Climate

F: extremely oppressive desert, Sahelian, ET, or EF
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecca#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niamey#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuuk#Climate

C climates

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little...kansas#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medford,_Oregon#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakutsk#Climate

- Most purely Oceanic Climates (like right on the WA or BC coast and parts of the United Kingdom)
- Pretty much any Humid Subtropical Climate in the USA between I-40 and I-10.

D+
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego#Climate

D-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riyadh#Climate
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Delhi#Climate
Any Ice Cap or Tundra Climate

F

Any Tropical Climate whether it is Miami, FL or a Tropical Savanna, or a Tropical Rainforest.

The three primary things I like to see in a climate:
- Four Seasons
- Snowy to Very Snowy Winters
- A Good Deal of Precipitation but not Excessive (Between 15 to 40 inches is my sweet spot, but depending on the other two factors I can be a bit flexible).

Two secondary things I like to see (not quite as important as the three primary)
- Pretty Good Sunshine Hours
- Winter Lows and Summer Highs Aren't too Crazy Extreme
