Subject deserves its own thread, not in a Climate Battle thread. SAD responses in this thread devolved into petty bickering. We don't need that.

Miami is only warmer in the summer. Its average daily temperature for the year is exactly the same as Cairns (25.1C). Record high is higher for Cairns (42.6C) than Miami (38C) and Cairns (29.2C) is slightly warmer by average high than Miami (29.1). Surprisingly for me Miami is slightly warmer by average low (21.1C) than Cairns (21.0C) as its warmer summers more than make up for cooler winters. Less surprisingly Cairns (6.2C) is much warmer than Miami (-3C) for record lows.

It's worth noting that many ultra-tropical plants such as sealing wax palm and breadfruit grow with much more ease in Cairns than Miami because of the warmer winters.

It was mostly semi-overcast when I visited in September, mixed with some bright sunshine and more overcast conditions, which I found ideal for most outdoor activities. A little light rain that didn't bother me in those temperatures and a brief heavy downpour.
