Over here the beaches tend to be packed but there's that weird italian thing where the beaches are private and everyone has a deckchair with an umbrella after they've paid 20 euros for the day, so the beaches look more like military camps. Also the water here tends to be very warm and shallow (at least in this region) so it's hardly refreshing.
I really want to go to the beach in Tuscany when I have the occasion, but it's probably mostly pebbles and rocks there, not the best...
This photo of another Motueka beach, and the other photo I posted, are both on Boxing day (a bit of a family tradition to go then)and seem quite empty in comparison, although I was probably grumbling about the crowds.
It bears mentioning that the heatwave is basically over now, especially in Northern Europe where the coming 7 days will see late spring conditions with highs in the 60s/low 70s.

except that is not late spring but normal summer conditions in much of northern Europe outside of France.
2 days ago, Świnoujście (Poland) at 54°N in the coast of the Baltic Sea had a maximum of 37.8°C which completely smashed their previous June record by 6 celsius (31.8) and their all-time yearly record (34.4) which is astonishing. This is probably the most impressive new record, as this place has a June high average of barely 19°C

Two days ago it was about 39C here in Leipzig, near the all time high temp according to local news. Today I have all the windows open and the cool breeze feels like air conditioning. It is about 21C this evening. This feels more typical of summer in Germany. May was below average, very cool and June was well above average, most days near or well above 30C.
