Have you noticed that that the months of May and June seem to be much cooler than normal in much of North America over the past few years? Even though the peak of summer seems to be getting hotter? Sometimes it feels like the chilly reminiscent of winter doesn't seems goes away and it just doesn't feel like summer despite the calendar saying summer's approaching.
While of course there are some hot days on both months they seems to be short lasting, there are many other days in both months are feel like early spring or late fall based on weather records of different cities. Overall it seems Mays and Junes the past few years including this year had rather been chilly as a rule. For example I noticed that during the month of May in Las Vegas most days the high temperatures don't even crack 80f in a city known for its furnace-like heat half the year starting from April towards October. In fact in LV there was one day in May where the high was only 65 degrees and many more just in the 70s. The inland empire of California also known for the heat also had been on the mild side with clouds and a chilly wind most days of both May and June. Many other cities around the country also saw similar weather patterns with a rather cool May and June based on weather underground climate history.
Though interestingly the cooler May and June pattern doesn't affect high temperatures on July, August, and September as once those month's come the heat becomes intense and less relenting.
I be curious is this type of weather pattern caused by so called "climate change" and ocean water temperature changes? In which cooler water temperatures are the rule for month's of May and June but hotter water temperatures swells later in the summer?

We've had several cooler than average May's here in the last decade including this May (7 degrees below average); but June has been hot almost every year, we had our first below average June since 2009 this year (1/2 a degree below average).
I notice it here as well, but in October and November though (our spring). They tend to have rather cool nights, similar to those of winter. When we hit January, the middle of summer, it can get very hot with muggy warm nights. I remember October and November were more consistent a decade ago with mild nights. Now they are more unpredictable and extreme.
I think that this has something to do with climate change.
Many Mays in the past decade in Indianapolis have actually been warmer than average, and up until June 2019, all of the months of June have also been warmer than average, except this June which was a bit cooler than average in Indianapolis. Summers over all in Indianapolis have been hotter than average, as have many recent years.

Last May was the warmest on record in Portland and this May was in the top 10. In both Mays, a Rex Block had set up over the Pacific, which means persistent ridging in the PNW and persistent troughing in California amd the SW.
