Would you rather live in Phoenix, AZ which has extremely hot summers and mild winters or Yakutsk, Russia with extremely cold winters and mild summers?

Phoenix isn't extreme at all compared to Yakutsk. Even compared to the rest of the US or rest the world, I would not consider Phoenix extreme. Yakutsk has an average high of -32 in January with very long, very cold winters, cool to cold spring/autumn seasons, and a short warm summer. Phoenix has very mild to warm winters and the rest of the year being warm to hot. Most the US has warm to hot summers, with cool, mild, and warm springs/autumns , and cool to cold winters(or very cold, most not close to Yakutsk cold though).

So for me, Phoenix definitely! Phoenix is a mild to warm/hot climate but in my opinion not extreme.

Phoenix no contest. It is not an extreme climate to me while Yakutsk is.

Phoenix easily, Yakutsk is horrific. Phoenix's heat is more on the level of cold in say, Moscow than that in Yakutsk imo.

Neither, for sure, but I’d take Phoenix with a long summer vacation elsewhere.

Phoenix would be one of my favorite climates (outside the expensive Californian coast and foreign Auckland), but Yakutsk is about as horrid as it gets.

Yakutsk is absolutely horrible. Tell me you prefer that after you've actually experienced a -40 day. Everything is dead, including your car. Phoenix is in no way that level of extreme on the other end.

Phoenix is an easy winner here. I don't consider it an extreme climate while Yakutsk definitely is extreme.
