A "hot" summer could have 70-100 days at 80+ F.
I wouldn't think of going to Paris for great summer weather; most of the time I see Paris's forecasts it's springlike, between 10-24 C.
If I was vacationing in Europe, it's likely that I'd stick to places mostly near the Mediterranean like southern Spain, southern France, Italy or Greece.

i HIGHLY recommend going to Seville, Spain, it's very beautiful plus it's VERY, VERY hot in the summer, i went there in August it was 42C(108F).

Maybe, but I visited Seville last Feb under an icy rain and a temp of 35 F, the oranges on the trees had fallen down due to wind and water, it made a squishy sound to walk on them.
Interior Spain has a dry continental climate, it's not always hot!

yea, but at least it's hot in the summer, and seville's averages in January are 61/40 which is not cold at all, what you experienced is VERY rare.
seville is almost always MUCH warmer than Madrid.

How long were you there?
Was that a long time ago?
I think I've heard about the hottest records in Spain were either in Seville or somewhere nearby.

Come to Australia, you wont suffer freezing rain, but will certainly see 40ºC in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth! Stay away from Sydney, doesnt' get very hot in summer, its usally humid 25ºC days with rain. Brisbane wont really see anything above 35C in summer either.

I might do that.
Is Brisbane usually muggy which would help make it feel warmer/hotter?
Sometimes it's nice when it's under 32 C and muggy instead of dry.
I'm not sure if I'd want to live in the southern half of Australia, but I'd definitely like to visit during a heat wave.

Brisbane does get muggy, but it is nothing like Miami. Us southerner's like to say 'Miami has the climate Brisbane thinks it has"
It can get very cold in Brisbane, just last week, the city had an overnightlow of 6ºC (colder than ANYTHING in Melbourne so far this year), whereas their western suburbs have actually dropped to 1ºC! Last year in July, Brisbane's western suburbs dropped down to -5ºC, which was the culmination of 5 straight nights of sub-zero temps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Temps this low have NEVER occured anywhere in Melbourne!
Pleaase check the following links, the reality is quite astounding!
Amberely (brisbane western suburbs)
Amberley, Qld - July 2007 - Daily Weather Observations (broken link)
Brisbane Airport
Brisbane Airport, Qld - July 2007 - Daily Weather Observations (broken link)
"Sunshine Coast" - COASTAL strip north of Brisbane
Maroochydore, Qld - July 2007 - Daily Weather Observations (broken link)
Gympie, a town about 100km north of Brisbane
Gympie, Qld - July 2007 - Daily Weather Observations (broken link)
As a matter of fact, both Brisbane's and Melbourne's overnight lows are forecast to be around 10ºC throughout next week!

I was horrified to read those stats, then I remembered Queensland is in the southern hemisphere.
(When I think July, I automatically think hottest month of the year.)
If that was Queensland's mid-summer weather that'd be very depressing.
Do you have any stats for summer?
Funny what you said about Brisbane thinking it's as muggy as Miami:
In the southern U.S.A., monthly summer record lows will be anywhere from 10-18 C. Miami's is probably 18 C.
The dewpoint in Miami is probably normally between 23-27 C.
In South Carolina, like in Myrtle Beach, the dewpoint is normally 20-24 C.
Inland in towns like Raleigh, central North Carolina the dewpoint is normally 18-22 C.
