Default Back to my beach questions

How about New South Wales?

Is there any place the water isn't very cold (minimal-to-zero risk of hypothermia) that has fun waves to ride? I hear there are supposed to be some decent beaches near Sydney and I also know that Sydney is not even half-way up the NSW coast.

*Just asking, in case I happen to be in NSW anyways.

**BTW, I know Victoria by the coast is a very cloudy place, but is there some point up the coast in NSW that a lot of this cloudiness disappears. I saw on some stats that Sydney averages something like 5-6 hours of sun in winter, which sounds fairly sunny to me.

* I heard a rumour that Australia now has a "Carbon Tax." Is it true?
If so, how much is the tax and on what items?

what about Western Australian beaches like Margaret River, Albany or Esperance? With such sunny and warm summers, the temperatures in the ocean are nice and there are some good waves as well!

It's a tax on goods that create carbon emissions, like gasoline and diesel fuel.

In our newspaper, it said that it was already successful in Australia.

The aim of the tax is primarily to encourage consumers to use less, but at these ridiculous energy prices, I'm already using the minimum I need to still hold onto my sanity. I also think that if they introduce this tax in Canada that initially it WILL literally take food out of hundreds, if not thousands of Canadians' mouths.

All this to "fight climate change."

Probably reference to being "carbon neutral" as in trying to offset your "carbon footprint" by doing things like planting so many trees. But I could be wrong.

I'm mostly interested in coastal weather...
or at least east of the Great Dividing Range,
since many of the cities and towns seem to be there.
Feel free to talk about any other fun facts about climates/weather in any part of NSW however.
