Outside of Melbourne

to the northwest-Ballarat, Ararat, Bendigo the forecast has been 40s and cloudy- some nights near freezing- this is cold for Victoria-right?

Also Batemens Bay- way south of Sydney in NSW, winters here though mild can be chilly at times??

^^^ hell yeah it is cold for us. Those towns you mentioned all average in the mid 50's and receive no average annual snow. However, Ballarat may get a light dusting but full on snowfalls are not common.

Rainy and wet this morning, continued to do so throughout lunchtime and now the second front is approaching. This is the front that I expected to see squally thunderstorms in, and I was right. We have had storms, lightning and thunder from 3pm onwards and still going on... Its great...

Yeah thats what we have been getting SAB... It looks like it has weakened now so maybe only the slight chance for some lightning over Melbourne overnight, but the showers will be as active with hail and maybe tending to a period of rain overnight near Melbourne...

In typical fashion, whatever storms there were died before getting anywhere near Melbourne

we just got some rain and tiny hail and thats about it.
