You don't know the meaning of cold bro!

At least you've never experienced the feeling that you brain has been sucked out from your eyes from prolonged overcast weather.
It is very draining for many people to go at least an entire week with zero sunlight.

We can get that for up to 2 months straight where there are never any shadows.
Night slowly creeps in by getting darker, no colour change in the sky,
and very slowly merges into daylight, which is just a brighter version of night's darkness.

SAB probably knows exactly what I'm talking about.

You're damn right I know what your talking about NO ONE in Perth has the right to complain. Especially during/towards this winter. They don't know the meaning of winter or continual cold and overcast.

Okay, maybe pigmentally-challenged people'd have a right to complain in Perth.

I think I can understand continous sun being boring, but does it ever seem "draining" of your energy?

I'd love to live somewhere I'll never feel drained from no sun. Probably never happen, but I can dream.

Even if you took a 1-2 week vacation somewhere overcast, you probably couldn't get the full effect of an overcast climate. The reason is just knowing you'll see sun when you return in 5-10 days will change the how the overcast affects you. If you want to see if you're as sensitive to low-to-no sun as SAB and I, I think you'd have to be gone over a month, probably at least 2 months.

Yes, i find the sun drains a lot of energy! by the way last month we had about 12 consecutive days of rain and then it all stopped suddenly! and now today is the last of the fine days as tomorrow will rain

The cold drains more energy from me then the heat does. I think it's because of shivering.

^^ the gloom and the general ugliness of cold aswell?

Yet more punishing evidence of this catastrophic "global warming":

August among coldest on record,
Adelaide has had one of its coldest Augusts on record.

The average daily temperature was 14.8 degrees Celsius.

The only colder August was in 1951, with an average maximum of 14.1 degrees.

Forecaster Allan Beattie says August last year was among the hottest on record.

"I think we had a maximum of 30.4 late last year, so it's certainly been a big change from what was a fairly hot end to last August to having a fairly cool August this year with a maximum which has been about two degrees below average," he said.

Adelaide recorded 85 millimetres of rain for August, nearly 20mm above average, but winter rainfall overall was below the average of 222mm.

"For winter we normally expect for those three months about 222mm but we in fact had about 188mm and it looks like we were about 35 millimetres below average," Mr Beattie said.

The weather bureau is warning farmers not to expect above-average August rainfall to continue into spring.

Mr Beattie says below-average rainfall is more likely in the months ahead.

"The long-term outlook is for a slightly higher chance of below-average rainfall than above average," he said.

South Australia's higher rainfall recordings for August included Oodnadatta in the far north with 35 millimetres - more than four times its average - and Milang in the lower lakes region with 88 millimetres - nearly twice its average.

Port Lincoln recorded 92 millimetres - 23 above its average - but, in the Riverland, Berri had just 11 millimetres, less than half its August average.

Cold, wet winter for south-west Vic

It has been a cold and sometimes very wet winter for parts of south-west Victoria and the Ballarat region.

Figures from the weather bureau show temperatures were up to two degrees below normal during July and August, despite the warm start to the season.

Most of the region had normal rainfall, with areas close to the coast, like Mortlake, Portland and Port Fairy getting well above average falls.

Senior forecaster Phil King says there has not been a season as wintry as this one in a decade.

"We would probably describe it as a winter of old. The daytime maximums and minimums, although they are close to the long-term average, it is probably been 10 or 15 years since we have seen a winter come in around average," he said.
