Default How much Tornadoes does??

How many tornadoes does your state/country get per year?

In New Zealand we get on average 20 per year which range from the EF0-2 range, last July there were a swarn of damaging tornadoes throughout Taranaki as active frontal bands crossed the country from the Tasman . About 50 Oakura houses were damaged, of which 80 percent were destroyed. There was a swath of damage along a 140 km front.

Down where I live we don't get many, although there was one about 300m from where I live but it was not strong at all and the summer of 06 there were a few EF1-2's associated with severe thunderstorms what rolled through that summer.

Excuse my grammer, I beleive it should be 'how many', I have not fully woken up yet.

Well the US is on the way towards a record year. We have had something like 1100 so far. I believe we have already set a record for the most EF4 and 5's in a year. And unfortunately we are also heading for a banner year for deaths. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

i have no idea how many tornados we get a year...but my area is known as "Tornado Alley" only 2nd to the American Tornado alley. We seem to get a tornado with each decent cold front...

Do you mean your tornadoes are more prevalent when it's chilly? We generally have ours when it's hot and humid.

Tornadoes and strong thunderstorms usually form when warm air meets cold air - usually ahead of an incoming cold front.

What_causes_tornadoes?

Wow first time I've heard someone say that, I've looked around and can't seem to find too much on tornadoes and Perth, how many tornadoes do you usually get per year?

Illinois usually gets 26 per year. We have had at least that many since Jan 01. We had one near Rockford in January, the 7th or so, very odd.

Iowa has had more than 31 this year, as well.
Arkansas has had more than 50 for sure.
Texas does not seem to be getting AS many this year; nor Oklahoma
Kansas has seen at least their yearly average.
The Dakotas, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are slightly above average.

This has been THE MOST TORNADIC YEAR BY FAR according to Dr. Greg Forbes, from the weather channel in Atlanta. More than 1,600 reports. Old record was 1,100 or so.
