Brrr! Almanac Predicts Cold, Wet Winter
Grawgburg, I was so glad to come here and see that you started this thread. I had just started reading an article on AOL news and had copied the link to post here. Of course, your article includes info about the Farmer's Almanac Prediction, but I decided to paste the link anyway. I think I like the site that you posted. I've never seen it before and intend to do a bit of reading there.
It's going to be rough since the cost of heating will be out of this world. For my own area, they are predicting at least a 35% increase for heating our homes. Not sure I understand that since oil is going down, but that's probably more of a topic for the political forum. But anyway, with an increase in price and colder then normal temps, it won't be pretty.
I did post about this on the Weather Temperature forum, but this morning they've already hit freezing temps in Mn. and Wisc. Hibbing, Mn. beat their all time record low by 7 degrees this morning.

Even our average October weather is almost too cold for winter...
Wake me up when it's summer 2009.

NO! Last winter in Seattle was already way too cold. We got snow in April for Pete's sake, and it hardly ever snows in Seattle even in December and January.

ILNC, come on up!!! We also had a very cold winter~way below normal many days. I'm talking like 15 to 20 degrees below average. We had about an average amount of snow.
Our local weather station did say that the Pacific is warming up, but still kinda chilly so we shouldn't expect our temps to be above average~below avg. if anything.
