One problem might be that the official temperatures are recorded at the local airport in town. The elevation of the airport also impacts how cold it can get at night due to wind speed. Don't worry- you will have warmer air soon.
Thanks, Granite~I am sure looking forward to a warmup.
The thing is that I got my info from weather.com and that's the same place I had gotten my info the day before when they showed quite a different "present temp". That site had actually showed that it was 11 below, but when I checked the history the next day, it was quite different. I've noticed that quite frequently.
Our town isn't that big and the airport is just right outside of town so the temps couldn't vary much at all so I just don't understand why the discrepancies. But it's so cold right now that I guess it doesn't really matter except that such inaccuracies irritate me. LOL
When I was in Waukegan, reporting was a problem. Everything in the Chicago area was always based on O'Hare and Midway, not helpful to areas near the lake or north of the city.
Finally they started doing the "cooler near the lake" or "except for the lake shore" because our weather was so vastly different than the weather at O'Hare.
Same here, my weather is not the same as Green Bay but local stations do state lake shore separate.
Oh man, now I'm ready to move to Alaska. It's warmer up there then down here.
I'm sorry. Cold weather gives me brain freeze and I don't think I expressed my frustration correctly.
I had gone to weather.com Monday and saw that it hit minus 11 and TWC also said the same thing. When I went back to weather.com the following morning, it said that minus 3 had been our low. SO, same site~just inaccurate past info. I hope that explains it better.
