St. John's is milder than the rest of Newfounland. West Coast is still cloudy but colder. A 10°F low in February might be more realistic than in January.
Interesting data. Rocky Harbor would certainly work for me. Averages over 37 inches of more snow than St. John's (not that I would complain about St. John's snowfall). As for my question, looks as though Rocky Harbor is cloudy, but still manages to average as low as 8 F during the winter. Their record low is -33 F, so I guess my -37 F isn't too unrealistic. I would assume even in St. John's, the day it dropped down to -10 F probably had clear skies. One of the things I'm trying to figure out is how cold it can get under cloud cover.
