Unhappy News, The Coldest Places on Earth.

A few days ago, I woke to find my pipes frozen. The outdoor temperature was in the single digits, and the house temperature hovered in the 50s all day. The next day was warmer, but an ice storm soon followed. I made myself feel better by looking up the coldest places in the world.

John, you have my sympathy and thanks for the link. I moved from Illinois to Wisc. last year but a house instead of a mobile home. I dealt with frozen pipes, frozen sewer 30 years and decided no more getting on my hands and knees to check heat tapes or use a hair dryer to thaw a frozen line!!!

Not that I can't have problems here, I just had the sewer unclogged (tree roots) but the big difference a plumber came out on Sunday, in Illinois getting someone to help you on a weekend was awful.

Oh gosh, those pictures alone were enough to make me cold. First area mentioned~International Falls and that didn't surprise me at all.

John, you were just quoting, right? I hope you didn't have to go through the misery of frozen pipes.

I live in SOUTHERN IL and we went through that major ice storm last year (a week without power) and I can tell you right now,I kept my water running in ALL facets the whole time...I would rather pay a bit higher water bill than deal with frozen waterlines.Awful job.
