Default North Dakota/Northwest Minnesota blizzard

Hi

Here are some photos from the blizzard that struck eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota today...these pictures are from the Fargo Forum.

Photography |* INFORUM | Fargo, North Dakota - Moorhead, Minnesota

One of the most intense storms in past 10 years....10 inches of so in Fargo of new snow with wind gusts to 52 mph and temperatures around 10 below zero. Wind chills 40 to 50 below....quite a day. Most of the day at the house could not see across the street. Got a foot drift inside the garage from where the snow blew in thru the cracks between the bottom of the garage door and the concrete.

Dan

Wow Dan, you guys appear to have gotten a lot more snow then we did down here. Our problem has been the winds and blowing snow. Our windchills haven't been much better then yours up there.

Hi Jammie...

I checked the statements from NWS Sioux Falls and it says the cooperative observer in Mitchell reported 4 inches of snow from the storm...with other reports showing 3 inches in Huron to your north and in Chamberlain to your west. Only 0.2 at Sioux Falls though.

I will try to send warmer weather your way...

This is what the latest 7 day temperature guidance has for Mitchell. It warms it up to 20 by Friday but then back below zero for the weekend. But sometimes this long range temp guidance is off.

Thanks Dan, four inches of snow sounds about right. I hadn't even heard how much snow we got and Sx. Falls really did luck out. They said they'd be at the very edge and not get much of the storm. Lucky them!!!!
