Default Temperatures hit 40 degree C in Canterbury,New Zealand

Weather stations across Christchurch are showing temperatures have climbed over the 40 degree mark this afternoon as mainly clear skies and a gentle nor'wester create the hottest day in quite some time.

Christchurch based weather analyst Richard Green says thermometres have reached 40 degrees in the past hour.

Barrington is now recording a temperature of 41C (106F) degrees, 40C (104F) in Cashmere, 38C (100F) downtown and 35C (95F)out at the airport".

While down here in Invercargill its only 26.4°C (79.5°F), (Heat Index 27.1°,C ), Humidity 56 % with the sunny weather about to come to a halt




The temperatures in Canterbury arn't expected to last, it was warm yesterday as well but just failed to hit the 40s

Are those temps record breakers? Also, it'd be nice if you'd send some this direction.

Nope not record breakers at the moment, but it was forecast to get hotter later this afternoon.
